New year has come again and 2013 had left us with all the memories. 2013 has been a great year for me. A lot of things happened, either positive or negative. Even this blog has grown more than I ever expected.

I still remember, back in 2011 when this blog was still a personal blog, I wrote a lot of things occurred during my pupillage time. It was a rojak blog. And back then, I never thought that I would backpack around, especially doing a solo travelling. It was after my 2 best friends, Akmal and Aiman, whom finished their pupillage earlier then me, ventured into a Trans-Peninsula Malaysia travel that I started planning to do a backpacking trip, which I never stopped ever since.

Of course, when we do something, there will always be people talking about it. It is hard to satisfy everyone anyway, so as long as I am happy, I am grateful to be given the chance to wander on this planet, seeing Allah’s creations, and nothing else matters. :)  Travelling around all these years had also made me realized that Allah is the Greatest for creating a beautiful world with all the differences and we should appreciate that.

To those who are afraid to travel, just go. Even Islam encourages people to travel and just see at how the great Islamic scholars such as Imam Bukhari, Imam Muslim, Ibn Khaldun, Ibn Batutta etc had travelled back then. Those who are still confined within their comfort zone are missing something precious.

Life is about courage and going into the unknown.”

To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer,to find each other and to feel. That is the purpose of life.”

Those are my two favourite quotes from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

As for this blog, I am so grateful for the opportunities given to me throughout this year. Through this blog, I joined my first media trip to the beach town of Cherating . I was also given a complimentary stay at a hotel in Klang Valley, which I have not been to yet. I was also chosen to participate in a contest organized by Tourism Selangor known as the #TSBreakAway program [here]. Grand Seasons Hotel KL also had given me a chance to taste the food at their cafe, which I have not blogged about it yet.

As for my travelling this year, I went to Sabah for the first time of my life… well my first visit to East Malaysia actually. I’ve also been to several other places either with my travel buddies or alone. All in all, amazing new experiences and for that, alhamdulillah.

Travel, in the younger sort, is a part of education; in the elder, a part of experience.” – Francis Bacon

To sum 2013 up, watch my video below, a compilation of several footage I shot throughout my backpacking journeys in 2013. Happy new year!
