Wow Liz! I find that when traveling sometimes the biggest disappointments like not seeing Machu Picchu open you up for amazing experiences you wouldn't have ever thought of or know about. I would be devastated for not getting to see it, however this post is amazing! Not only for the photographs, but your opinions and your take on the whole situation in general.

What an amazing experience. Sometimes I find that is easier to just go with the flow and let life lead you then following plans. Sometimes plans can get you fixed on itineraries where the unexpected surprises don't happen!

Great Post! We will be in South America this next year and will definitely check out the Valley. Hopefully you can get to Machu Picchu someday! If you are anywhere near SA this next winter we might see ya around!

Oh my gosh, brilliant! I´m so glad we weren´t the only ones who went to Perú to see Machu Picchu and weren´t able to go due to weather...

We rode over 50 hours on various buses to get there, so it was a pretty big let-down, but we made it work.. Here´s our story: http://www.innercompasstravel.com/cusco-machu-picchu/

But that corn, though... mmmm. And did you try that queso helado? ricoooo
