My husband & I are now retired & I would love to live in NZ. Canadians unlike the people in Europe do not venture very far from home to live! Travel yes, but not to live! It’s like they’re trees with roots planted very deep! Europeans have the advantage of just a hop skip & jump & they are in another country! Here in Canada, which is a big country, we are so behind in people movers! Days to get across the country by car, no buses, air is very expensive, & trains are limited.
Very cold long winters! Beautiful summers but short! A govt that half the time doesn’t know what it’s doing & we R taxed to death! But have full intentions of visiting NZ !!

Hi Liz

You sound absolutely delightful. You also have a beautiful country but you just have to travel a lot further to see these lovely sights. I urge you to travel north of Auckland to see some lovely beaches that you will be the only one there. Quaint little beach towns (mainly retired people) as there isn't the work in these isolated areas. You will get use to paying at the counter when you have a meal or a coffee etc; Do you like the 'no tipping' as we find that so confusing in the US as to how much to I tip etc etc; Having travelled to the States a few times, I have found the American people so lovely, friendly and very polite. I hope you get down to the South Island and have a good look around before you depart. All the very best Liz Kind regards Jenny Price Sandspit (North Auckland)

Yep! So does The Bay Of Plenty. There are so many beautiful places there and trust me, I'm a citizen but live in Cali, and every time I visit, I'm like, why don't I live here? :)

Are you for real? I have lived here for 8 years (from the states) and find the people rude, crass, uneducated. They are far from friendly.
Hi Liz. Thanks for your accounts in NZ. Fun read. Wondering what the bad thing that happened was? I’ve had some really bad luck in lots of places. If you can share it at some point so others don’t have it happen to them that would be appreciated. Hope you made it out the other side ok.
Take care and be safe.
